Ferry Days: Dressing for the Bosphorus Crossing
What to wear for twenty windy minutes between Europe and Asia, twice a day.
On the deck of the Kadıköy–Karaköy ferry, the wind never drops. Morning chill, midday sun and evening rain can all arrive on the same day.
Our answer is layers: an Oxford shirt, a fine Shetland and a gabardine trench that sheds rain. The pockets should be deep enough to free your hands for a glass of tea.
